I started making candles at the height of the pandemic. I was craving a creative outlet from all the chaos surrounding us and was not interested in conquering all that TV and a “sedentary” lifestyle the pandemic was forcing upon us.
While being a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of California, I was able to continue to see patients during the pandemic. I chose to condense my regular work schedule and go into the office two days a week or on an as needed basis.
With more time on my hands only working a few days a week, I started having creative fun with my time. Aside from the zoom happy hours and family reunions (most of my family is on the East Coast,) I decided to learn American Sign Language (ASL) and make candles. What started as a creative outlet and homemade gifts for family and friends, has now become a part of my business brand.
Wellsentials: Body was created out of a love of candles in general along with being a Massage Therapist and Licensed Acupuncturist. The Wellsentials Body Candle is a candle that once lit, creates a melt pool that can be used to moisturize the skin!

As someone with dry skin and eczema, I enjoyed the process of developing my recipe. I developed the candle with a blend of nutrient-rich organic oils and butter that melt into a warm, moisturizing oil. Wanting to go a step further, I decided to add scents that have an added “wellness” component. With my Chinese Herbology background, I chose fragrances like Goji Berry and Dandelion that can provide an “affect” on the senses and benefit your skin.
Incorporating the candles into my practice has been a nice treat! Massage clients especially enjoy the warm oil during their session.
Now, almost two years later, Wellsentials is a candle line that provides nourishment for the skin and aromas for the senses to help relax, uplift or calm the mind.
